Loved it! It was clean and well run. Felt safe the entire time and got to meet some great people. Hostel is right above party district so hopefully you don’t mind a bit of noise. Other than that, 100% would recommend

Super auberge qui permets de passer de super vacances !

Très bon auberge, la piscine sur le rooftop est accessible pour tous et permet de rencontrer des gens et de se faire des amis pour le vacances. La chambre est très sympa et les lits confortables, le personnel très agréable et très compréhensif face à nos problèmes. Attention cependant, ce n’est pas parfaitement bien expliqué sur ce site, mais le prix indiqué n’est pas le prix que vous allez payer sur place. Évidemment les taxes ne sont pas incluses, et le montant que vous payez pour faire la réservation n’est pas touché par l’hôtel. Je vous conseille donc de passer directement par le site de l’hôtel, je pense que cela sera plus simple :)

Great hotel, great location, great staff

The staff was super friendly, and always here to help me when I needed. The hotel’s location is good (Downtown LA), but consider taking an Uber if you want to see iconic spots such as Hollywood, Venice Beach, etc… The hotel’s cafe is also a good place for breakfast. Overall, I had a great stay at Freehand and recommend this place if you’re traveling on a budget!

Steps away from the beach, nice coffee shop just in front, nice people from all over the world, farely close to LAX (get à shuttle if you're not gonna rent a car). When checking in, people were sleeping in all but 2 beds but they all seemed to be taken. I went to the desk and they told me it wasn't supposed to be so. It looked like he and the girl who was finishing off her shift genuinely cared. The guy took on him to wake people up to see which bed was free (it was passed midnight and I didn't really want to do it myself). In a party place such as Venice, you can't really expect the staff to care but it's a nice touch when they do. It turns out they had just spread out their stuff.

The location is phenomenal! You only have to walk 50 meters so get to the beach. And there are also some hostel activities like "taco tuesday" which are really funny because you get to know so many other people there. It was really cool

L’accueil et l’hébergement valent tout l’or du monde

L’accueil fût tout simplement incroyable. La propriétaire de l’auberge est accueillante er bienveillante. Je me suis sentie chez moi, après avoir parlé de mes insécurités de mon premier voyage en solo. Je ne peux que recommander cette auberge tellement elle est incroyable

L'auberge est située juste en face de central park, et a coté du métro, un très bel emplacement! Nous avons eu un accueil extrêmement chaleureux et ils ont été très arrangeants pour le dépôt de bagages, mais aussi pour nous conseiller des endroits à visiter. Les espaces communs sont très bien et cozy, et la cuisine est très bien équipée. Le ménage est fait tout les jours, et les salles de bain sont très propres. Allez-y si vous aimez les auberges de jeunesse, vous serez très bien lotis!

I had a great experience as a mid-20s person traveling on a budget—the room was very clean and in a relatively perfect location, considering I went with the goal of walking or taking transit everywhere. I didn’t get the BEST sleep I’ve ever had, the mattress wasn’t that comfortable and the AC/outside noise was pretty loud at times. Nothing super unusual for a hostel, of course! I took the risk of not buying a lock for my stuff in a double room, and roommates were respectful of stuff and general hostel etiquette. The shared kitchenette is pretty barebones, I think you could make it work with cooking your own meals but check what supplies they have stocked when you arrive, and probably BYOBowl if you can. Reusable utensils and soap for your room’s sink would also come in handy! One heads up I would give for anyone booking on Dorms.com is that initially I was somehow triple-booked by the system, though my email confirmation looked totally as expected and only listed one of my 3 bookings. I wouldn’t have known until I got to the front desk and was paying, except that I happened to call the hostel to make a separate adjustment. Was able to cancel the duplicates without trouble, but definitely made me feel the site was unreliable.

Personnel agréable et accueillant Auberge propre Les chambres sont petites et mal équipées. Pas de petite table pour poser un téléphone, pas de lumière autre que plafonnier, literie très moyenne... La cour derrière est à l'abandon Point positif: l'emplacement, mais un peu cher pour le confort apporté (moins cher qu'à l'hôtel heureusement)

The mattress was slanted, the pillows were deflated, the heating was on but it was too hot and we didnt get instructions on how to lower it. Our room was in the basement and the windows were not reducing the sound at all. The room was okay for the price and the location. The staff was also very nice, if you are a person who is used to hostels you would probably like it.
