Good atmosphere, helpful staff

I have stayed in many hostels over the last few years and have never been botherd to leave a comment. But filepe and his books hostel is the best hostel experience i have ever had, i felt the need to leave a review. i can not reccomend this hostel enough. It has an excellent atmosphere 7 days a week with filepe the owner organising parties and events. So easy to meet other travellers in this well organized hostel so is great for solo travellers and also groups. He knows everything there is to know about rio and will help you out booking and organising everything. The place is also quiet enough late at night if you want to have an early night. Clean, good lockers, and the rest of the staff are also great. I will be back to this hostel again 100%

Really nice hostel, great vibe, kind and helpful staff, would definitely return!

Rio was the highest highlight of my world trip (3 months, 4 continents, 23 cities). The reason was this hostel. It's incredibly fun, the atmosphere is amazing and the staff are super helpful. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

The vibe. This is a party hostel and you can meet plenty of people, inside the outsid the building. The breakfast is amazing (fruits, cereals, make-your-own ham and cheese toasts). Also, Netflix and drink specials,and sigh uo dinner 3 times a week.

Books is full of character. Eccentric murals cover the walls and are a good fit with the eccentric staff and clientele. The emphasis here is on young travellers who want to meet other young travellers, and usually drink copious amounts with them. The staff will always be remarkably friendly and helpful for you with planning activities. It's an incredible place for people who are looking for what it has to offer... Certainly not for everyone though. If it IS for you, you'll never forget it.

Location and breakfast!!! Aside from that, I loved the relaxed atmosphere, the on-site bar and the air conditioning in the bedrooms!

amazing hostel with a great location - walking distance to all of the great nightlife in Lapa, with something to do every night.. the staff is so helpful and is always willing to help you with anything you might need! i would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone looking to experience true Brasilian culture and to meet other travellers looking to have a great time!

It was like walking in to a family and apart from one grumpy night guard EVERYONE was lovely! So good to see brown bread too

The atmosphere in the hostel is amazing and would suit anyone looking for a fun time in Lapa.The staff is out of this world helpful and friendly, the breakfast is fantastic and the place is clean enough and well kept.

There was a cool environment. And the structure itself is really nicely decorated.

Really good location! The bus stop is very close to get to the key Rio attractions like the beaches, sugar loaf, and corcovada! There are plenty of showers. Very nice and hot, good breakfast and the staff are great! Special praise to Philippe! He's a good man!

Great to meet people

This is the ultimate party hostel in the heart of Lapa, we stayed thurs through sunday and partied every night, great atmosphere in the bar, you can bring your own drinks, crank the music and meet some really fun travellers. Cleanliness and facilities not that great but easy to look past when your main priority is to party!

The staff is great. Also it was one of the best breakfasts I had while traveling. The atmosphere and decoration is great! I really enjoyed it!

Great place to meet people!

Books is BY FAR the BEST hostel in Rio. Friends stayed at other places and all were jealous of me! It's super friendly, super chilled, and super cool. Excellent location for all the street parties and to see what it's REALLY like to live in Brazil - not what the tourists see. Staff are some of the nicest people I've ever met and they're never trying to sell you stuff like staff in other hostels. You can drink your own alcohol and cook your own food (again not like other hostels in Rio) and it feels like home, rather than a business. The owners go out of their way to invite you to things they do with their friends and are always happy to show you the sights (for free!). I met SO MANY cool people there and I was among the many guests who booked in for two nights and ended up staying for two weeks (and some even longer!) because the place was so cool. Without a doubt one of the best hostels I've stayed in around the world! Don't stay anywhere else!

Everything was fantastic! The owner Phillipe is amazing and so are the rest of the staff, we loved it so much and when we extended our stay Phillipe went out of his way to acomodate us even though they were full. The breakfast is really yummy and every night they have a bar with fresh fruit caparinas which are very good! Also the rooms are nice and everywhere is decorated in a really fun style. The best hostel weve ever stayed at and amazing value for money.

This was my first ever stay in a hostel and the staff have made this place extremely sociable. I extended my stay by a week!
