The Duke Hostel is a wonderful old historic building, currently being renovated & modernised by new owners, without compromising it's old charm and visitor comfort. We only five minutes drive to the beach & 2 minutes walk to the famous Grey River.
Free breakfast of bread and jam in the morning. Coffee & tea 24/7. Free soup in the evenings.

The Grey River is close by & features stunning views of hills as well as the starting point of the West Coast Cycle Trail. Short rides north or south take you to stunning beaches, coastal roads, the famous Punakaiki with it's blowholes & Pancake Rocks & much more.

The Duke Hostel began life as the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, dating back to at least 1874 according to old newspaper reports.
Owners Daniel & Glen purchased the Duke in early 2018. Having worked in other industries in the past, the father & son team decided they wanted to go into business together with the Duke. They are very passionate about providing a high quality & great value accommodation service to visitors and restoring the Duke to it's former glory.
